Social engagement is key to successful transition both from military service as well as into the civilian workforce after graduation.

University life is difficult for military veterans due to a number of reasons. A lot of our downtown campus students have families and commute to campus and student veterans are older than most students. Also, veterans may have social difficulties due to previous traumatic military experiences or due to the amount of responsibility over missions, equipment or personnel they had while in the military.

Social engagement builds camaraderie between student veterans and helps them connect and communicate with the civilian student population. It is important that today's student veterans create a strong, positive image of our veterans coming home from military service and that our civilian communities embrace our veterans as well as their skills and needs.
